Little Fuzzy Bits

"No, Dr. Perrone, you are not." "Skinny Dip" by Carl Hiaasen ♦♦♦♦◊
Let's get the non-Show-and-Tell-y stuff out of the way first, shall we?
Christmas was fine. Weird, but fine. Mom got to spend Christmas day (and a good part of the week) in the hospital here with pneumonia. She's fine now, and happily at home.
I was spoiled by THREE different Secret Santas, all of whom found me via the Google Plus Secret Santa Society. I Secret Santa'ed a few people, also.
I am now unemployed. While I thought that 30 December was going to be my last day, Pam had to travel to help an ailing relative so I stayed on at the shop to cover for her. I will be looking for another job - but I'm sure you know there's little chance of finding anything nearly as perfect a fit as was my time managing and teaching at a quilt shop!
This is a Minor Minion that I made for Mallory, my own personal
bell minion.
Mallory came to me after a polite diva fit - I'm pretty octopus-y (not in the James Bond way) when it comes to handbell ringing, but last spring the director threw just a tiny bit more at me than I could handle. Mallory was my extra hand(s) when the law of physics didn't allow me to hit ALL of the notes I needed to hit.
She's now moved on to 'real' spot in the handbell choir, across the circle from me. She's a good player and a stinkin' nice person, so I figured she needed her
own minion.
Pattern is
Minor Minions by Heather Sebastian. It's available for purchase on Ravelry
here.
I received some lovely stitch markers made by +Deena White (that plus sign is me trying out auto-linking to G+), one of my yarn mateys.
Absolutely wonderful - and they arrived at the perfect time. 2013 will hopefully be The Year Of The Shawl, when I finish the
four five shawls I have on the needles and maybe make a couple more (gosh, I only have 48 on my wishlist). The stitch markers arrived as I was beginning Chart D on
Bashful Butterflies* and they were pressed into service before I even took time to take a picture to share.
*Bashful Butterflies has been renamed
Ballbreaker Butterflies. Chart C kicked my backside no fewer than three times before I gave up and designed a different stitch pattern. When I got to Chart D (the last one), I just didn't like the lace so I scavenged one from another shawl I have in my library,
Kuura. There was a lot of counting before I got in the rhythm, but I'm able to work on it a little each evening while the cat is pinning me to my comfy chair.
Oh: I started redesigning the shawl
after I got through the "Butterfies" portion of the shawl. So, hey! It's still a Butterflies shawl, even though only about 35% of the thing is from the original pattern, right?

So who is your minion now? Or are you on your own?
Hope the job hint is going well - I hate it which is probably why I've stuck with social work for so long.
Want to ?
